Individuals in relationships

You may decide to come along for relationship counselling for the first time, on your own, bringing you partner to subsequent sessions. Alternatively you may to decide to proceed on your own, as your partner may be unwilling to attend counselling. Or you may decide from the start, that you want to attend on your own.

Coming along to counselling without your partner, to work on relationship issues, can still have a beneficial effect on your relationship or marriage.

You might be considering relationship counselling for a number of different reasons such as:

  • Feeling constantly angry with your partner
  • Fearing that your partner is going to abandon you
  • Being in two minds about whether you want to continue with your relationship or not
  • Finding it difficult to communicate with your partner so that you feel heard and understood
  • Feeling lost and alone even although you are in a relationship
  • Being in a sexually, physically or emotionally abusive relationship
  • Finding yourself constantly cheating and lying to your partner
  • Being jealous, insecure and clingy of your partner
  • Finding yourself sexually attracted to other people and afraid that you might act on your feeling
  • Struggling to support a partner who has a long-term health condition, mental health or addiction problems
