“Every time you don’t follow your inner guidance, you feel a loss of energy, a loss of power, a sense of spiritual deadness.” Shakti Gawain
Sexual orientation refers to who you feel sexually and emotionally attracted to. Some people are attracted to members of the opposite sex, some are attracted to members of the same sex, and some are attracted to both men and women.
I work with sexual minority clients from a gay affirmative standpoint:
- I do not believe that sexual orientation can or should be changed; you cannot choose your sexual orientation.
- I believe that an openly gay, lesbian or bisexual person can have a rich and satisfying life.
You may be considering counselling about your sexuality for a number of different reasons.
For example:
- Are you experiencing confusion about your sexual orientation?
- Are you trying to cope with coming out issues?
- Do you want to feel more self-accepting and better about being gay?
- Are you trying to dealing with the reactions of your family of origin to your sexuality?
- Are you struggling to cope with internalised homophobia and the homophobia of others?
- Are you being bullied at work or in your personal life?
- Is shyness or a lack of confidence holding you back?
- Do you want help with relationship issues?
- Are you grieving the death of a partner or the break-up of a relationship?
- Are sexual issues causing you a problem?
- Are you concerned about your use of the internet, alcohol or drugs?
- Are you a victim or perpetrator of domestic abuse?
- Are you feeling fearful, anxious or depressed?
- Do you suffer from poor self-image, body image problems or generally feel unattractive?
- Are you socially isolated and lonely?
Perhaps you want to resolve a particular issue associated with being gay, lesbian or bisexual such as those listed above. Or you may just prefer to have therapy sessions with a counsellor who is supportive and understanding of your sexuality.
Whatever the reason, why not call me on 07970 860 711 to discuss coming for counselling?
